Eligiblity and Apply Online for SSC-CGL 2016

Staff selection Commission – Combined graduate Level (SSC CGL exam 2016) is conducted every year by the Staff Selection Commission of India. It is a combined graduate level exam for the students who are aspiring for the government jobs (Group B and Group C posts) in India after graduation in various departments and ministries of the Central Government. The SSC CGL exam is given by Lakhs of candidates which appear in this examination after graduation. Those aspirants who want to appear in this exam should start their preparation for SSC CGL 2016 so as to score good marks and clear the cutoff which is increasing every year due to high competition. The eligible and interested candidates should make their registration before the last date since sometimes due to large no. of candidates filling their forms on last dates the server breakdown or some technical problem may occur. After filling the application form candidates can appear in the examination for Tier 1, on qualifying Tier 1, the candidate will be allowed to appear for Tier 2. After qualifying the test conducted by SSC more opportunities will open up for graduates in the government sector as their thousands of government jobs opening in the year 2016.

The SSC CGL 2016 examination will be held in two tier systems, commonly known as Tier1 and Tier2. The mode of examination is multiple type questions (MCQ’s) having four choices for one question, the question will be asked from the subjects like general knowledge, general awareness, aptitude, English language and reasoning.

◾Application Form:

The candidates looking for the SSC CGL 2016 application form are informed the application form will be announced very soon, interested candidates can fill the form through the online mode, from the official website of Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Candidates have to enter their details while registering for SSC CGL Part 1 registration, after completing part 1 of the registration candidates have login with the registration number generated in the part 1 of the registration and then proceed to the Part 2 of the registration through the given link mentioned in the official website of SSC. After completing part 2 registration in which uploading of candidate photograph and image is done (as per specified format), now the candidates have to procees towards fees payment, which is the last part of the application process. The application fees details for SSC CGL 2016 is mentioned below.

◾Application Fees

The candidates belonging to general and OBC category, they have to pay the application fees of Rs. 100, while the candidates belonging to ST/SC , Ex-servicemen and all girl candidates they are exempted for payment of SSC CGL 2016 fees. After filling the form candidates can pay their fees either through bank challan or by using online mode through Debit/Credit card or net banking.

The candidates can check the Staff Selection Commission notification for SSC CGL 2016 on its official website as soon as it will be officially declared by the SSC.

◾Eligibility:

The candidates applying for the SSC CGL exam, should be one of the following:
He should be a citizen of India
A subject of Nepal
A subject of Bhutan
Or a Tibetan refugee who came to India, before 1st January 1972, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Age limitation – The candidates who want to appear in the SSC CGL exam 2016 should in age between 18-27 years, for some posts the age should be between 18-25, while for some other posts the age should fall between 18-30/32 years, the candidates should note for age proof the commission will only consider the Matriculation/secondary exam certificate.
Note: The age limit for all posts will be reckoned on 1st January, 2016.
There is the relaxation in the upper age limit for SC, ST and OBC candidates according to government reservation policy.
Qualification – The candidates appearing in the SSC CGL 2016 exam must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, those candidates who are appearing in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply provided that they should have completed their degree before 1st August 2016.

Start of online Application: 1st week of May, 2016
Last date for Application: 1st Week of June, 2016
Admit card release date: last week of June, 2016
SSC CGL exam date 2016: August, 2016
Declaration of SSC CGL Result: Mid of September, 2016 (for Tier1)

◾How to apply online

  • Aspirants should fill the online application form from the official website and complete the Part 1 of the registration, with all the necessary details like DOB, full name, father’s name, etc.
  • Candidates should note the registration id and password generated in Part 1 of the registration and login with those credentials for Part 2.
  • In Part 2 of the registration, candidates have to upload their photographs and signatures and then proceed towards fees payment.
  • Fees can be paid through Bank Challan or internet banking or debit/credit card.
  • For bank challan take a print out of challan form (available in the website) and deposit the fees to any branch of State Bank of India.
  • Now fill in transaction no. given by the bank on fee challan.
  • After that upload your recent photograph and signature and click submit.

◾Selection process

This SSC CGL exam is conducted in two tiers.
  • Tier 1 exam: it is a common exam for all the posts, comprises of four sections General intelligence, 


General awareness, quantitative aptitude, English comprehension. Each section carries 50 marks. The duration of test is two hours and maximum marks are 200. Tier II exam:
 The Tier 2 exam will have three papers, comprising of questions from the following subjects: 
  • First -quantitative abilities 
  • Second- English language
  • Third- statistics Each paper carrying 200 marks and all questions will be of MCQ’s type. 

Based on the results candidates will be shortlisted for the interview/ skill test/ computer proficiency etc. according to their posts.

◾SSC CGL Exam pattern

The tier I and tier II exams will be of objective type, having four choices for every question, candidates have to select the most appropriate response. The paper pattern for SSC CGL is discussed below.

Note: Time duration for each paper is two hours. There will be also a provision of negative marking in each paper, thus for every wrong answer 1/4th of the marks will be deducted.

◾Admit card

The Candidates who have filled the SSC CGL application form 2016 can download their SSC CGL Admit card for Tier 1 Examination by clicking on download link given on the official website. Candidates must download the admit card of Combined Graduate Level exam in order to appear for the exam. The admit card will contains all the details of the candidate and the center of the examination.
